Fitch short-term fellowships

Applications are invited from PhD students and early-career researchers (within 8 years of
the award of their PhD) for short-term research fellowships at the Fitch Laboratory of the
British School at Athens (BSA).
The fellowships support research stays of up to 6 months during the academic year
September 2026 – July 2027. Projects should fall within the fields of archaeological
science in which the Laboratory is active and able to host research. These include, but are
not limited to: ceramic studies, analysis of glass and vitreous materials, archaeometallurgy,
zooarchaeology, human osteology, archaeobotany, soil micromorphology, pigment
analysis, ethnoarchaeology, and experimental archaeology—typically within the broader
context of Aegean and Mediterranean archaeology.
Applicants are asked to submit online the following:
A cover letter, indicating the preferred duration and proposed dates of the stay, and explicitly addressing the mutual benefits of the fellowship for both the applicant and the Fitch Laboratory

A research proposal (maximum 2 pages)
